2014-2015 AT A GLANCE

The Department of Economics at the Universidad de Montevideo plays a major role in education, research and public service in Uruguay. It has been experiencing a steady increase in the number of researchers since its beginning. All full-time faculty holds a PhD degree in Economics, with expertises in diverse fields such as Game Theory, Applied Microeconomics, Health Economics, Environmental Economics, Economics of Education, Macroeconomics, and Financial Economics.

Top journals- such as Econometrica and American Economic Review – publish research articles of our professors.

Our Alumni are well-represented at leading academic centers around the globe. Graduates of the Master Program in Economics at the UM Department of Economics have been accepted into PhD programs at renowned universities including Columbia, Harvard, MIT, NYU, Stanford and Yale.  The Department offers outstanding opportunities and provides an excellent environment for vibrant studying and researching, with faculty and students engaged in multiple scholar endeavors.
